So Damian talks and signs. We love how he talks and signs, he looks so cute!!!!! He is SO polite even when he throws fits LOL He always says hi to people and smiles at them. I caught myself using the singing tone that he uses to say hi =)
These are the following words he says
The cutest word he says is 'HI!' He ALWAYS says that to people as he waves and smiles super cheesy, after waving he ALWAYS holds his hands together right at his tummy and keeps a huge smile. Oh I love this kid!
I take it back. The cutest word he says is the only word that doesn't sound AT ALL like the word he is actually trying to say; Peter, his best friend and stuffed elephant that grandpa Lau got him. Damian calls him Poi (Bowie?). It's hilarious because one doesn't sound like the other at all.
No= by far his CLEAREST word AND sign is NO. He very politely shakes his head and dismissively says "no no" when he doesn't want something. However, for things that mom or dad say no to, he points at them and signs with his little fat finger "no no no no no" and sometimes the temptation is so big that he anyways does the very thing he told himself NOT to do.
Byebye= Whether we say to him 'say Adios' or 'say byebye' he says 'byebye' as he waves.
Ball= In Spanish 'pelota,' so he says 'pelapatata' when he is with us and when he is with his white friends he just says 'ball.' The funniest thing though is that he HAS to say that word smiling and showing teeth AWWW
Water= In Spanish 'agua,' so he says 'babua'
Car= He just says 'carcar' or 'carcaro' (trying to say carro I guess)
Our favorite word has to be 'shoes' because when he goes up the stairs he sits on the first step of the top and says 'zapatapa,' in Spanish 'zapatito' is little shoe.
So he used to say 'mama' when he was sad or needed something but lately, the hero is dad. He wakes up and says 'papi,' we drive around BYU and he knows we're picking Jon up so he says 'papi.' And well in Spanish we also say papi and mami as an endearment word for kids so Damian points at himself and ALSO says 'papi' because I call him like that often.
Mami= Mami and he uses it the most when I pick him up from nursery at church while sobbing LOL
Jackson= His best friend in the ward is a little boy named Jackson. Damian wakes up from his nap sometimes and asks to go play with him or when Jon and I go for a walk with Damian and we pass his house he start asking for him. He says 'Ja-ctnnn'
Thank You= In Spanish 'gracias,' so he says 'dacias.'
Baby= 'baby' and we have nothing to do with this one... he started padding and caressing his friends when they are sad or just because and if he doesn't know their name he calls them 'baby'
Please= He signs when we tell him to ask 'por favor' but he doesn't say por favor, he is starting to say please.
Box= With all this moving and mom and dad Lau helping us move he said box a few times.
And of course the obvious ones:
Poop=In Spanish 'caca' and he says exactly that (easy)
Funny thing, if you ask him 'te hiciste caca (did you poop?)?' or if you solely pull his pants from the back to check he says "no no" (only if he has not gone, if he has he says 'caca' hahaha)
Pee= In Spanish 'pipi' and he also says exactly that.

ReplyDeleteThat is fun to read. I'm glad you posted this because we so quickly forget the cute things they say and do! Damian is such a sweetie and so are his parents! I love you.
